44-year-old pilot Martha thought building her dream body was out of reach given her long working hours.  

Demanding shifts and long-haul flights made her question if she had the time to get into shape, especially at her age.   

However, when Covid-19 lockdown measures put the world of international travel on hold, she was presented with the perfect opportunity to put her health first.  

Martha’s decision to partner with Ultimate Performance made her realise that a healthy work-life balance could exist.  She is now 13kg down and has abs she never thought would show.  

She has learned invaluable lessons about training and nutrition, meaning she can now maintain her incredible figure while working around the globe.   

“I never thought at this stage of my career and at my age, I would see results. But I now have a hunger for more.

“My expectations were quite low, but I thought I’m going to give it a try. It has worked wonders for me, I could not believe it because it was simple.

“I really enjoy my training now. Looking back, achieving my goal wasn’t difficult and it was a very sustainable approach for me.”

Here, Martha speaks about how her trainer mapped out a well-structured plan for her needs, and how her relationship with food is better than ever.


What motivated you to join U.P. and are you proud of what you achieved?  

I thought I’d give it a go because I had nothing else to do during the Covid-19 lockdown. My expectations were quite low, but I thought I’m going to give it a try. It has worked wonders for me, I could not believe it because it was simple.

After three months, whatever goal we set, we exceeded it. At one stage I thought it couldn’t get any better, I felt like I was in the military which I really enjoyed. Looking back, achieving my goal wasn’t difficult and it was a very sustainable approach for me.


How has your lifestyle changed following your U.P. transformation?   

My lifestyle changed a lot, I really didn’t expect the nutrition to play such a big role. My day-to-day life is now as structured as it can be with my job. When you have a plan you follow it, and you then see the results.

It wasn’t like this for me before, my diet was very up and down and you never really achieved the goal you set out to achieve. When I followed your plan, which was simple enough for me to follow, I saw results.


How has this experience changed your day-to-day life?  

My life has more structure now, I feel very good about myself and I like the way I look. There’s always room for improvement which is also exciting.

I have always been a confident person, but now I stand tall and feel even more confident. Before my transformation, I could never feel my abs, and obviously now I can. I never thought I’d be able to see my abs!



What were the highlights of your U.P. transformation journey?  

Overall, I really like how I look and how and the mind-muscle connection I have developed. My trainer gave me a lot of books to read and I read them all, so I’m more knowledgeable now.

I also did a 110kg farmer’s walk without even thinking about it, and felt confident doing a back squat. I like the way me and my trainer worked together, doing exercises that I didn’t realise I would enjoy for example bench press, military press, push-ups and dips.


Following your U.P. transformation, what benefits have you seen at work?  

Let’s be honest, being a pilot is an unhealthy job, especially flying long haul. But now, I have a structure and I try to stick to it as much as I can.

I have slip-ups here and then, but with a structure in place it helps me maintain a relatively healthy lifestyle. I’m full of energy and I see myself training for the next 20 years.

I’ve noticed I get a lot of compliments, which shouldn’t get too much into my head, but it’s nice!
